DNS Borked itself

I am running an early 2008 Xserve w/ SL10.6.8 to host Primary DNS, AFP/NFS/SMB,DHCP & OD for my domain, over the weekend DNS somehow borked itself and I've got no clue why. I would like to simply restore from TM but I use network-based TM and am not comfortable with going that route yet. I would like to see if there is some way to put DNS back without a full system restore.

If I go to DNS in server admin on the primary server DNS is running but it shows 0 zones primary and secondary. When I checked in /private/var/named I can see the db's in the folder; EX:
bak.foo.local.
db.1.1.1.in-addr.arpa.
db.1.1.10.in-addr.arpa.
db.foo.lan.
named.local
named.ca
localhost.zone
zones/db.foo.lan.zone.apple
zones/db.1.1.1.in-addr.arpa.zone.apple
zones/db.1.1.1.in-addr.arpa.zone.apple

The secondary DNS server shows my 4 secondary zones.
